MASTER FORMATS - CD DUPLICATION
We accept the following formats for duplication which are listed in preferential
order. Note: Format 2 is preferable if you are submitting files for mastering.
1) Compact Disc (Native PCM Format) - CD, CDR, CD-RW: This is by far the most universally
accepted format. If your master plays in a standard CD player then it is in this
format.
2) Compact Disc (16bit / 24bit .WAV Files) - CDR, CD-RW: This is a raw data format
that has not been converted in such a way as to be playable in a standard CD player.
We suggest using this format when submitting files for mastering especially when
the source material is 24 bit. All of our mastering tools implement 32 bit or higher
data paths and presenting your 24 bit files in this way allows your master to retain
its highest quality. If submitting 24 bit files for mastering, DO NOT apply dither
or try some “mastering” preset included in your recording software. Leave that part
of it to us.
3) DAT Tape / MINIDISC - These are also digital formats but are not used as widely
now. Although digital, they require a transfer to CD in order to be duplicated. There
is a one time transfer fee of $50 for conversions from this format. This price also
includes a master CD copy that remains on file for future duplication runs.
4) MP3 & Windows Media - We are capable of decoding many of the most popular "internet"
audio formats for duplication to standard CD. When encoding your material use the
highest bit rate (192 or higher) as possible. There is a one time transfer fee of
$50 for conversions from these formats. This price also includes a master CD copy
that remains on file for future duplication runs.
5) Vinyl LP (33/45 RPM) / Cassette - These are analogue formats that require transfer
onto CD before duplication. There is a one time transfer fee of $50 for conversions
from this format.
